As a preface to any suggestions I might make, let me emphatically state that I am not a professional horticulturist! My knowledge comes from lots of internet searches and gardening books. I have always loved working in my yard, and have always had an interest in plants and flowers, but any gardening success I have is mostly a result of trial and error over the years. So with that said, I will list a few of the plants I like, and the ones that have worked for me. I’m limiting this list to some common, easy-to-grow annuals in our gardening zone (Zone 8a). These can be planted in early spring, as soon as the danger of frost is past – usually around March 15. A visit to your local nursery will provide lots of information on plant varieties suitable for our area, lots of plant choices, and lots of inspiration! If I can do it, anyone can!
