The newly formed, all ladies group, Pearls of Purpose, is bringing a Witches Ride to Minden! Pearls of Purpose is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization that was formed with the intention to bring family friendly events to areas all across north Louisiana. All events will benefit a local community endeavor and charity. The Pearls of Purpose mission is to connect women from surrounding communities, build camaraderie, support charitable and community endeavors all while exhibiting a joie de vivre perspective. Pearls of Purpose founders, Sarah Watson Overall of Minden, and Amber Ryals Bryant of Ruston are the ultimate event and party planners with servant hearts, and alongside the Pearls of Purpose board members, this organization has lots of future community events in the works!

A little History about the witches ride:

The Witches Ride was started over 30 years ago in Seaside, FL, and has taken fire across the southeast. Several neighboring towns currently host similar rides and our group decided Minden was in need of this type of community event. Think of a whimsical bike ride with ladies from all across north Louisiana dressed in their spookiest and most festive garb, all while benefiting the community and local charities.

The Witches Ride will take place on Thursday, Oct. 19, in downtown Minden, with a block party immediately following.

The ride is a women’s only event for ages 18+ and we encourage spouses, kids, etc. to participate as parade watchers as well as join in on the festivities at the block party. The block party will include complimentary bites, cash bar, music, a kid’s area and a screening of Hocus Pocus. Our goal is to have 300+ participants for the ride portion of the event. Tickets are $45 for the ride + block party and $10 for non-riders to attend the block party. Kids entry into the block party is free. Monies raised will go towards a community park called Miller Quarters (also the location of the ride’s start, finish and block party) and a non-profit organization called We’re Here, We Care. We will work closely with this organization and its founder, Patrick White, during the holidays and donate bicycles for children at Christmas.
