God Bless the GIRLS!

Lola MagazineCommunity, Lola Shreveport, Louisiana Ladies

Recently, I’ve been reminded how important and precious female friendships are. Admittedly, I’ve struggled with this in the past, choosing to nurture a very small circle of confidants rather than a gaggle of girlfriends. I’m not entirely sure why that is—it’s just how I’ve always been!

That said, over the past few months, I’ve been so blessed by the women in my life. They’ve celebrated and supported me in ways I didn’t expect. They’ve uplifted, prayed for, and encouraged me, time and time again. I’ve been so inspired by their creativity, determination, and capability. No offense to the boys, but give a girl a project and watch it get done, son!

Through this adventure we call Lola Magazine, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and befriend more incredible women than I ever thought possible—women who have overcome adversity, fostered beauty in forgotten places, and transformed their own lives and the lives of those around them. As women, we have the divine ability to create and to share, and every issue of Lola reminds me how important our stories are.

Simply stated, I’m in awe of the women God has placed in my path. And if you’re reading this, yes, you too!

As Megan Moroney reminds us in her song “God Bless the Girls” (2024), there’s something truly powerful about the grace, grit, and faith women carry into everything they do. Her words echo my own gratitude for the remarkable women who continue to inspire, support, and remind me just how extraordinary female friendship can be.

My life has become so much more vibrant because of the brilliant, talented, multifaceted female friendships fostered through this endeavor—and this is just the beginning!

So, this one’s for the girls: your beauty shines bright in this world. Your encouragement is appreciated. Your talent, vision, and expertise are needed. The gifts you possess deserve to be shared, and Lola will be here to shine a light, uplift, and spread the word as long as you’ll have her—which I believe will be a very long time.

God Bless the Girls! And thank God for mine!
