Aging is a natural and inevitable process, but how we age and how we care for our skin along the way can make a significant difference in maintaining a healthy, confident appearance. Modern facial rejuvenation is no longer about a single treatment or procedure. Instead, the most natural and effective results come from a thoughtful combination of medical-grade skincare, injectable treatments, advanced laser technologies, and when appropriate, surgical expertise.
In Your 20s: Building the Foundation
In the 20s, the focus is primarily on prevention and skin health. Establishing good skincare habits early helps slow the visible effects of aging later.
Medical-grade skincare plays a critical role during this stage. Products containing antioxidants, retinoids, and sun protection help defend against environmental damage while supporting collagen production. Daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen and antioxidant serums such as vitamin C can significantly reduce premature aging caused by sun exposure.
For some individuals, small doses of neuromodulators such as Botox® or Dysport® may be introduced once early expression lines begin to appear at rest. These treatments can help prevent deeper wrinkles from forming over time. In-office treatments such as microneedling, light chemical peels, and gentle laser treatments may also be used to maintain skin tone, clarity, and radiance.
Goal: Build healthy skin that will age beautifully over time.
In Your 30s: Early Prevention and Collagen Support
In the 30s, the first subtle signs of aging often begin to appear. Fine lines develop around the eyes or forehead, and skin texture may change slightly due to sun exposure, lifestyle, and natural collagen decline. Preventative treatments become increasingly important during this stage.
Neuromodulators remain one of the most effective tools for maintaining smooth expression lines. Treatments are often focused on areas such as the forehead, crow’s feet, and frown lines between the brows.
This decade is also an excellent time to begin collagen-stimulating treatments, such as microneedling or laser therapies that help maintain skin elasticity and overall quality. Medical-grade skincare continues to play a vital role, with retinoids, antioxidants, and targeted products supporting long-term skin health.
Goal: Maintain a rested, vibrant appearance and prevent more significant changes later.

This beautiful patient had hereditary dark circles and hollowing under her eyes that always made her feel insecure. After a thorough discussion of her goals, tear trough filler (under eye filler) was determined to be the best treatment option for her.
This was performed over the course of 2 office visits 2 weeks apart to obtain the most natural results. Under eye or tear trough filler is an area that requires expert knowledge of the anatomy as well and understanding how the filler reacts with water)how hydrophillic it is). Incorrect product choice or poor placement, it can lead to a puffy look, worsening of darkening, visible blueness from filler (tindle effect), or unnatural results. Seeking out a board certifed physican for your injections is imperative.
In Your 40s: Refinement and Structural Balance
In the 40s, facial aging often becomes more noticeable. Patients may begin to see volume changes in the midface, deeper expression lines, and early skin laxity. Hormonal changes during perimenopause can also accelerate collagen loss and skin thinning. At this stage, treatment plans often expand to include a combination of therapies.
Neuromodulators remain important for controlling dynamic wrinkles, while strategically placed dermal fillers or biostimulatory treatments such as Sculptra® can help restore facial structure, volume and stimulate natural collagen production.
Energy-based treatments, including fractional lasers and radiofrequency microneedling, can improve skin texture, tone, and firmness by stimulating deeper collagen remodeling. For patients experiencing heaviness or excess skin around the eyes, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) may be considered to restore a more refreshed and open appearance.
Goal: Maintain balance and support natural structure as early aging occurs.
In Your 50s: Structural Rejuvenation
By the 50s, many patients experience more significant facial changes. Volume loss, jowling, skin laxity, and neck concerns often become more prominent. Hormonal changes related to menopause can further accelerate collagen loss and skin thinning.
While non-surgical treatments remain valuable, this is often the decade when surgical rejuvenation becomes an important option for long-lasting results. Procedures such as a deep-plane facelift and neck lift address aging at the structural level by repositioning deeper facial tissues rather than simply tightening the skin. This approach restores youthful contours while preserving natural facial expression.
Injectables such as Sculptra® may still be used to support collagen production and improve skin quality, while laser resurfacing can enhance skin tone and texture.
Goal: Combine surgical and non-surgical treatments to achieve natural, refreshed results.
In Your 60s and Beyond: Maintaining Skin Health and Natural Results
In the 60s and beyond, the focus shifts toward maintaining skin quality, supporting collagen production, and preserving facial harmony.
Collagen-stimulating treatments can continue to improve skin structure over time, while neuromodulators help soften remaining expression lines. Advanced skincare remains essential, particularly formulations designed to support aging skin and improve hydration and resilience.
Laser and regenerative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be used to improve skin texture and promote natural tissue repair. Many patients who have previously undergone surgical rejuvenation benefit from periodic maintenance treatments that help preserve their results for many years.
Goal: Subtle refinement and long-term skin health.
A Personalized Approach to Aging
